Athens Reparations Action

Working toward healing historical harm through financial reparations in Athens, Georgia.

Delivery of community reparations to Linnentown descendants

ARA completed phase 1 of our work with the Linnentown Speaks ceremony on June 23, 2024 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, West. We began our time together with messages from Dr. Rev. Daryl G. Bloodsaw, Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church, West and Rev. Miki Chastain of Oconee Street UMC, and reflections by Chaplain Cole Knapper. Descendants then took the podium to share their memories and reflections.

In the second phase of our work, we are supporting the founding of the Center for Racial Justice and Black Futures in Athens. Any donations received after July 2024 will be channeled toward this.
